Forgiven? (2)

Hello peeps, it’s me once again. As we all know, it’s that time of year once again (well it would’ve been, if I’d remembered to post this on the 14th as I had intended. I decided to surprise us you guys and post the second part of last week’s piece. Truth be told, I wrote this a long while ago, even b4 Forgiven (1).

For those of you who grew up as “Good Children”, those whose biggest offence growing up was breaking a vase or bringing home a bad grade, you might not fully grasp the concept of forgiveness. However those who people have written off, who even family and friends have given up on, know firsthand the awesome feeling of being Forgiven.

If you don’t get me, let me paint a picture for you: Imagine you’re on death row, for a crime you committed. and you know full well that you deserve to die, then a minute, no a second before your sentence is carried out, at that crucial moment when you’ve already made peace with your penance and accepted your fate, something happens.

The phone rings, guard walks in, uncuffs you, gets you dressed and leads you outside the prison where there’s a Limousine waiting. You get in and you realize that there’s an old man inside who tells you, that you’re now free, his son has just died in your stead and you’re no longer a wanted man, cause all your crimes have been forgiven.

You stare at him for a while trying to comprehend what’s going on, after all why would anyone in their right minds give up their life, dreams & future for you of all the people in the world, you? As though reading your mind, he adds “You’re going to live on with me as my son in his stead and you’d be entitled to all the privileges that being his son entails.

There’s only one catch ( of course there’s a catch), you’re to accept his son’s sacrifice and live on as his son, the man you used to be is no more. Impossible right? I mean who’d die for a convicted murderer? Well God, his mother, a lover probably, okay let’s not lie, only God.

“Finding someone who would die for a godly person is rare. Maybe someone would have the courage to die for a good person. Christ died for us while we were still sinners. This demonstrates God’s love for us.”- Romans 5:7-8 GW

If that isn’t Love, I don’t know what Love is.

“The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends.”- John 15:13 GW
